Award Collection
I have had the privilege of competing in various national competitions.
In the fall of 2012, I joined the student newspaper Wingspan at Laramie County Community College. I started as the Campus Editor, moved to Entertainment Editor the following semester and then to Co-editor in my last semester. In the spring of 2015, some work of mine was published under the byline of Contributing Writer. During my time on the paper, I wrote over 40 published stories and created numerous page designs.
I also won numerous awards for my work, including:
· First place in Column writing for a series of three columns from the Society of Professional Journalists for the Mark of Excellence Awards, Region IX, awarded of 2014.
· Second Place in Editorial Page Design from The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, awarded in 2014.
· Third Place in Feature Page Design from The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, awarded in 2014.
The staff I was a part of received even more awards as a group, including:
· Third place for two year college less than weekly newspaper from the Pinnacle College Media Awards.
· First place with special merit from the American Scholastic Press Association.
· First place for Best all-around nondaily student newspaper in the small college category from the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence awards, Region IX.
· Certificate of Merit for the Publication’s overall design from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Awards
· Second Place for Headline Writing from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
· The Mark of Excellence award for Best all-around nondaily student newspaper from the Society of Professional Journalists Region IX.
· First Place, Best of Show, for two year colleges with a tabloid format from the Associated Collegiate Press.
· Third Place in national headline writing from the American Copy Editors
In addition, I received by Wyoming Career Readiness Certificate from the State of Wyoming Department of Workforce Services while attending school full-time and working as Promotions Director at Montgomery Broadcasting, a local radio house that runs two stations and a state-wide network, full time.
