The musical styling of the Laramie County Community College choir is coming to St. Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m.
The Collegiate Choir and the Cantorei ensemble will perform with two guest musicians for the Lenten Concert, which takes place in the middle of Lent. While Lent is a religious event, Dr. Judy Ransom, choral music instructor, said the concert is not just for religious people.
“It’s for music lovers. These are classic choral pieces,” Ransom said. These classic pieces include Gabriel Favre’s “Requiem,” Samuel Barber’s “Agnus Dei” and Anton Bruckner’s “Christus factus est.” The Favre piece and the Barber piece will be performed by the Collegiate Choir, while the Bruckner piece will be performed by the Cantorei ensemble, the top singers LCCC has to offer.
The guest musicians include Dr. Steven Hoffman, an organist, and Dr. Dave Shaul, a harpist. While admission is free, donations will be taken for the COMEA house charity.
